I'm wondering if anybody knows this sequel to Planet of the Apes, in particular one scene early in the film. The astronaut Brent (James Franciscus) stumbles on a museum in which the apes have humans on display. They are astronauts from a previous mission to the planet. The guys are frozen in life-like poses inside glass cylinders. It's assumed they've been taxidermied. I always thought it would be great to have a museum in which men from various times and occupations were in freeze suspension for public view--no need to recreate them in plastic museum dioramas. A museum of the future might preserve a firefighter, a soldier, athletes from various sports, a cop, even a nice-looking UPS delivery guy, and others, in a natural body posture typical of an occupational situation.

Always thought that would make an awesome movie just on the idea of either an alien race that does it or some gallery owner in the future.. I would love to see a porno where a guy collects male porn stars .. and I also had the idea of the same firefighter policeman construction worker.. ect and the sports ones also maybe Michael Phelps or other Trophy men who won gold.. would love to see the planet of the apes clip on here if anyone can find it that would be awesome... thanks

I don't remember glass tubes. I do remember two of the four astronauts wound up stuffed in a diorama, just like the stuffed animal displays in our natural history museums. A third was lobotomized. Charlton Heston was the fourth.

In the second movie James Franciscus briefly visited Ape City and may have visited the museum.

I downloaded Beneath Planet of the Apes yesterday out of curiosity and couldn't see the scene you were referring to. In this film it's a man and a woman and they find what's left of new york?? and tbh the film looks like it was inspired by the flinstones lol

lots of humans locked in cages but there wasn't any still life people that I can remember. Are you sure it was this particular sequel?

I distinctly remember the stuffed humans were early in the 1st movie, soon after Heston arrives in Ape City.

Thanks for the research and for sharing these links. I guess I had the first and second films confused, sorry. I was thinking it was only in the second film that there was evidence of a previous mission. From the perspective of current FX these look pretty lame, but some of the concepts like humans as museum artifacts still resonate.

I'm with you on the idea of a porn movie where a collector suspends porn star studs for future appreciation. Capture them a their peak, maybe some of them paired off in action poses with each other. I had recalled glass tubes in the apes movie, but apparently the taxidermied astronauts are out in the open for fuller appreciation--which is even better, especially if there's no sign in the museum saying "Do Not Touch."

Also in the first film, Planet of the Apes, while running away from the cells Taylor (Charlton Heston) ends up in a museum where he stumbles onto the preserved body of one of his co-astronauts
